About the Role

We are looking for a Mendix Developer who can own work end to end. That means picking up a business requirement, turning it into a working, well-built application, and seeing it through to production. Not handing it off. Not waiting to be told what to do next.

You will also be someone the team leans on. Junior developers will look to you for guidance. Stakeholders will look to you for clarity. That part of the job matters just as much as the code.

Key Responsibilities

Application Development and Architecture

  • Design, build, and deploy Mendix applications using best-practice architecture and development patterns.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and high-quality Mendix solutions.
  • Develop complex domain models, microflows, nanoflows, workflows, integrations, and UI components.
  • Build custom components using Java Actions written in line with Java best practices and company conventions.
  • Design and implement Mendix security models covering user roles, module roles, entity access, page access, and microflow access, with a strict principle of least privilege applied throughout.
  • Ensure application performance, scalability, and reliability meet enterprise standards.
  • Conduct thorough code reviews to maintain quality, consistency, and long-term maintainability across the codebase.
  • Implement auditing, logging, and monitoring mechanisms and apply DevOps, BizDevOps, and SecDevOps principles across the full application lifecycle.
  • Build productized modules that can be reused across other applications and projects.
  • Design and deliver Mendix Mobile applications with reliable offline synchronization, strong performance, secure local data handling, custom native functionality, and clean iOS and Android build and deployment processes.

Integration and System Design

  • Integrate Mendix applications with external systems using REST, SOAP, OData, Kafka, databases, and identity providers including OIDC and Azure AD.
  • Design modular and reusable components including modules, microflows, nanoflows, snippets, and document templates.
  • Apply strong working knowledge of Mendix Building Blocks across projects.
  • Work alongside enterprise architects, infrastructure teams, and system owners to align Mendix solutions with the broader IT landscape.
  • Lead technical discussions with external teams on security, network, and infrastructure topics.
  • Engage in detailed technical conversations around APIs covering endpoints, versioning, authentication, and rate limiting.
  • Design, document, and publish APIs following REST and SOAP best practices.
  • Keep documentation clean and complete. That includes readable code, in-app documentation, and full handover packages such as Low-Level Designs and API documentation for clients.

Leadership and Collaboration

  • Mentor and coach junior and intermediate Mendix developers on best practices and more advanced techniques.
  • Lead solution-design workshops, sprint planning sessions, and refinement meetings.
  • Work closely with product owners, business analysts, and stakeholders to clarify requirements, refine user stories, and agree on acceptance criteria.
  • Promote consistent use of Mendix best practices and reusable components across the team.
  • Provide honest, accurate effort estimations for tasks, user stories, enhancements, and bug fixes.

Quality Assurance and Lifecycle Management

  • Set up and manage CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and Git branching strategies.
  • Run unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests, including full System Integration Testing.
  • Diagnose and fix complex bugs including integration failures, performance issues, and concurrency problems, often under tight timelines.
  • Manage the full application lifecycle including branching, versioning, environment configuration across dev, test, acceptance, and production, deployment processes, and rollback procedures.

What We Are Looking For

Certifications and Education

  • Mendix Advanced or Expert Certification. Expert is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Technical Skills

  • At least 3 years of hands-on Mendix development experience, with at least one complex application delivered to production.
  • Deep knowledge of domain modeling, microflows, nanoflows, Mendix security models, Java Actions, JavaScript Actions, and Mendix best practices.
  • Solid experience with REST and SOAP integrations, API design, versioning, authentication, and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with Git-based development, CI/CD pipelines, and automated deployments.
  • Experience deploying and managing applications on Mendix Cloud, Azure, OpenShift, and on-premise environments.
  • Advanced SQL skills covering complex queries, joins, indexing, and performance tuning.
  • Proven experience carrying out Mendix major version upgrades.
  • Strong Mendix Mobile experience covering offline and sync logic, performance optimization, secure storage and encryption, and managing app builds, signing, and store distribution for iOS and Android.
  • Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts including certificates, firewalls, and proxy configurations.
  • Comfortable using AI tools such as Copilot, ChatGPT, Grok, and Maia to accelerate development, debugging, and documentation.
  • Proven ability to produce and maintain comprehensive documentation including API docs, Low-Level Design documents, and client handover packages.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and reporting.

Soft Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, especially for complex integration and performance issues where the deadline is not flexible.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication. You can write a client email that does not need to be rewritten by someone else.
  • Good at facilitating workshops and requirement sessions without letting them run in circles.
  • Comfortable in both agile and waterfall delivery environments and able to manage scope and customer expectations in either one.
  • Proactive. You notice when something is blocked, you say something, and you propose a way forward.
  • Able to work independently and lead technical workstreams without needing constant direction.

Good to Have

  • Experience leading a Mendix development team or workstream.
  • Familiarity with Mendix QSM and performance analysis tools.
  • Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or private cloud Mendix deployments.
  • Participation in Mendix Capture the Flag events or solid awareness of Mendix security vulnerabilities and how to address them.

Why Omnix

The projects here are real and the scale is not small. You will work alongside experienced architects and delivery teams on initiatives that cut across the GCC and Egypt. You will own what you build, deal with genuinely complex problems, and have room to grow technically and as a lead. If you want a role where you are always learning and never just maintaining the status quo, this is a reasonable place to look.
